Who is Yerin Ha? All About the Actress Just Cast as Bridgerton’s Sophie Beckett

Australian actress Yerin Ha is set to make a splash in the upcoming fourth season of Bridgerton, where she will portray Sophie Beckett, the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton.

Born on June 26, 1995, in Sydney to Korean parents, Ha has quickly risen to prominence in the acting world, with a career that spans both television and theatre.

Ha’s journey into acting began at the age of 15 when she decided to follow in her family’s footsteps and pursue a career in the arts.

Her grandmother, Son Sook, is a well-known Korean actress and politician. Ha moved to South Korea to train at the prestigious Kaywon High School of Arts in Seoul, where she honed her skills for three years.

She later returned to Australia and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting, majoring in Musical Theatre, from Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 2018.

Ha first gained attention with her role as Maurice in the Sydney Theatre Company’s 2019 production of Lord of the Flies, sharing the stage with Mia Wasikowska and Eliza Scanlen.

She made her television debut in the American-French series Reef Break and soon after landed a significant role in the Paramount+ series Halo, where she played Kwan Ha, a character created specifically for the show.

Her performance in Halo solidified her status as a rising star, a title she earned from the Casting Guild of Australia in 2021.

In addition to her work on Halo, Ha starred in the ABC TV series Troppo and made her feature film debut in Sissy, which premiered at the 2022 South by Southwest (SXSW). She also took on a leading role in the Stan miniseries Bad Behaviour, an adaptation of Rebecca Starford’s novel.

In August 2024, it was announced that Ha had been cast as Sophie Beckett in Bridgerton, a highly anticipated role that will bring her into the global spotlight.

Fans of the series are eagerly awaiting Ha’s portrayal of Sophie, a character whose romance with Benedict Bridgerton is central to the storyline.

Ha is also set to appear in HBO’s upcoming *Dune* prequel series, *Dune: Prophecy*, where she will play Young Kasha. The series is scheduled for release in November 2024.
